Our New Grant Process:

In 2025, our Grant process has been streamlined with added accountability to enhance our overall process. We will also assign a mentor to each grant recipient organization as applicable to meet with them regularly and provide them with guidance and support.

Our Donors can now also become Members who have input in the grant process. Each quarter:

  1. Each quarter, Christian non-profits submit grant requests. See eligibility below.

  2. Grant applications will be vetted and reviewed by our UMCG Board of Directors.

  3. Members will review and vote on six grant applicants who will present at the quarterly meeting.

  4. Members will have the opportunity to listen to presentations by the six finalists and vote for the top three.  Winners will receive checks by the end of the quarterly meeting.

What is the eligibility criteria?

  • Grants can only be awarded to organizations that are a 501(c)3, tax-exempt entity, or to an organizations of team or people who have a fiscal sponsor/agent.

  • Your program must benefit people in Dane County

  • Your program must have a visible, intentional gospel component.

  • Must acknowledge that your organization and project being submitted conform to, and are not in conflict with the Apostles Creed.

What amount of money can I request?

The maximum amount that can be requested is $10,000 although the amount of grant awards will be up to $10,000 depending on the request amounts of winners..

How many winners are there each quarter?

There are six finalists, three will be chosen as winners and the amount received will be prorated based on ranking.  In addition, if applicable, the three winners would have an opportunity to receive a one year license to work with Family Connect WI. The three who do not receive a grant will receive a $1000 consolation grant.

What criteria do you consider in reviewing grant applications?

Determining whether or not to fund a project or program is an art not a science. We are prayerful in our process and try hard to be consistent and transparent in our deliberations. The questions listed below show you some of what we recommend members should take into consideration when reviewing grant applications. While this is not an exhaustive list, please take this into consideration as you prepare your application.

  1. Is this a new MP with a new initiative?

  2. Overall merits & impact of the grant request:

    1. Well organized

    2. Easily deployable

    3. Clear and focused mission

    4. Money is clearly allocated and understood

    5. Project alignment to our mission statement and has a clear gospel component

    6. Project is sustainable (maximum opportunity) in the long term without UMCG support

    7. Collaboration with other organizations with similar goals

If you have any questions regarding eligibility please email Josh at josh.kaurich@unitedmadison.com or diane.hanson@unitedmadison.com. We will be happy to discuss your situation.
